Claudia de la Torre is a Mexican, Berlin-based artist, educator and independent publisher who creates artworks situated at the intersection of printed media, conceptual publications, and installation.
In 2011, se founded backbonebooks, an independent publishing house as an extension of her artistic practice, through which she has published 95 titles and editions to date. Since 2021, she has been leading the Artists’ Books Workshop in her studio and worldwide, collaborating with creatives who want to bring their ideas to life in book form.
Her work is held in major collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Yale Library, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and she exhibits widely in book fairs and shows internationally.
The project is organized by Sara Arroyo, from TAMBOURINE, in collaboration with Kunsthal Aarhus.
